Sydney & Mandurah Boat Shows 2008!!

Thursday, 3 July 2008

Our feet have just hit the ground after Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. What a great Boat Show. We now have plenty of work ahead of us and we have Sydney Boat Show just around the corner. Our 43 foot Sailcat “Persian Sands,” that was at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show, is on its way to Broome W.A. The boat is presently at Airlie Beach, next stop is Cairns where another couple will join Peter and Penny to take the boat to Broome via The Kimberleys. They have had a good trip so far, all downwind, sitting on 15-16 knots regularly and occasionally exceeding 17 knots. Average from Fraser Island to Gladstone was 12.5 knots. Not bad for a cruising boat.

The 57 footer that we displayed at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show is off to Airlie Beach for 3 months, in a few weeks time. They should have a great trip north and will bring the boat back to the Gold Coast in Sept/ Oct, hopefully with Northerly Winds.

Our new motor- sailer concept was really well received at Sanctuary Cove Boat Show. We now have two being built and lots of interest in this new combination of motor-boat underwater hull shape and a sailing rig. The first of these boats will achieve 20 knots under power and will sail how you want it to. The owners of this first boat have long-term plans for offshore cruising and four of our 57 foot and one 43 foot owners have plans to participate in a 2010 round-world blue-water rally (cruising in company). These rallies are becoming very popular. There is safety in numbers and the different boats involved, usually have a mechanic, electrician etc. to be able to help out with running repairs or problems.

We also had a lot of interest in our motor cats. The mono-hull people are really looking closely at the economy of our boats. The cost of fuel is making people look at our consumption figures of 30 litres an hour at 15 knots (and 10 litres/hour at 9 knots), compared to 250 litres an hour at 15 knots in their own boats. The other advantages are stability underway and at anchor, huge interior and exterior space is a bonus. The savings in ongoing costs are obvious to all.

As a result of the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show we have a few second-hand boats available for sale. We have a 44.5ft motor cat, a 43 Sail cat and a 57 foot Sail cat. All of these boats are currently being used, however, the owners want to upgrade and their boats are for sale through us. So, if you are in the market for one of these boats and don’t want to go through the build process, please let us know.

We will be at Sydney Boat Show this year, with a 44.5 foot Power cat and we are located near the Pyremont Bridge. If you can get to Sydney Boat Show please let us know and be sure to call in and see us.

We will also be at Mandurah Boat Show 9th - 12th October. We will have a 3 year old Perry 44.5' Powercat there, but will have plenty of information with us about our Sailcats. The demand for boats in Western Australia has been huge over the past few years. We have two Motorcats based in Mandurah and a Sailcat in Broome. We are keen to get a sailcat in the South-West area and are prepared to do a deal in return for showing the boat at Mandurah Boat Show.

If you can get to Mandurah Boat Show, please let us know and be sure to call in and see us.

Look forward to hearing from you.
